Before responding to their letter, we first wish to thank Dr Conolly and his coauthors for their assistance in making our analysis possible. This assistance included making their data and computer code fully available to us. We also would like to compliment them for their work on the formaldehyde model. This model involved many years of research and included both development of the underlying data and innovative modeling of these data. We believe it is unique in the way it brings together in one modeling framework a very rich database. This work is valuable in demonstrating how data from diverse studies can be combined in a single model and in understanding the potential uses and limitations of such modeling efforts.
